MANIKARNIKA...the queen of Jhansi
The film starts in 1828 with the birth of MANIKARNIKA and takes us through her life until her death in 1858. The warrior queen led an army against the British Empire. We know about the poem by Subhadra Kumari Chauhan and the immortal line in it " khud ladi mardani,woh toh Jhansi wali Rani thi" Kangana Ranaut is on fire as the iconic Rani Laxmi Bai. She's riding horses,wielding swords,climbing on elephants and making it all look believable. When she looks into camera and insists on dying for the country you would want to follow her into the battle. For KV Vijendra Prasad's credit a lot of research has gone into creating the universe around Rani Laxmi Bai. And also so much happened in a span of only few years which had to be shown in 2 and half hour.So a lot of research was done!
